Sagri Participates in the “AWD-JCM Stakeholders Forum” in the Philippines

Sagri Co., Ltd (Headquarters: Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture, CEO: Shunsuke Tsuboi) participated in the “AWD-JCM Stakeholders Forum in the Philippines,” held on March 6, 2025, at the DA-Crop Biotechnology Center (PhilRice Compound, Brgy. Maligaya, Science City of Muñoz, 3119 Nueva Ecija), Nueva Ecija, Philippines.

At the forum, Kobayashi from our Agri-Innovation Department presented on water management technologies in rice paddies, utilizing satellite data, models, and other methods that do not rely on local observations. He also introduced our business activities in the Philippines.
About the “AWD-JCM Stakeholders Forum in the Philippines”
The forum brought together various stakeholders, including research institutions from the Philippine Department of Agriculture (PhilRice), the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), and other related organizations. The purpose of the forum was to discuss the introduction of AWD (Alternate Wetting and Drying) techniques, funding opportunities, and the utilization of JCM (Joint Crediting Mechanism) for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
During the forum, there was active discussion on innovations in water management technologies and strategies to strengthen public-private partnerships to promote sustainable rice farming and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Through providing agricultural solutions that utilize satellite data analysis and AI technology, Sagri is contributing to solving agricultural challenges across the Philippines and the broader Asian region. Furthermore, we are actively involved in promoting the adoption of AWD techniques and working with governments, private companies, and producer organizations to utilize JCM for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
