Sagri Co., Ltd. Announces Start of Public Comment Period for Verra (VM0042) Project

Among the early adopters of advanced VT0014 (Digital Soil Mapping) technology to reduce farmer burden and enable scalability

Tokyo, Japan – October 23, 2025 –
Sagri Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan; CEO: Shunsuke Tsuboi; hereinafter “Sagri”) today announced that its carbon credit generation project (Project ID: 5663), submitted to the global carbon credit standard body Verra, has entered the public comment period under the Methodology for Improved Agricultural Land Management (VM0042).

Details of the project are available on the Verra Registry:

This project is one of the early adopters of Verra’s newly approved methodology module, VT0014 (Methodology for Digital Soil Mapping)—released on August 26, 2025—combined with Sagri’s proprietary satellite data analysis technology.

The VT0014 module enables the measurement and monitoring of Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) changes using digital soil mapping. By adopting this technology, the need for extensive on-site soil sampling is significantly reduced, minimizing the burden on participating farmers and enabling efficient scaling up of the project area.

This project builds upon the collaboration announced on December 23, 2024, between Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. and Lam Son Sugar Joint Stock Corporation (LASUCO). The initiative aims to generate carbon credits through improved agricultural land management practices in sugarcane fields in Vietnam.

The public comment period is a key process to ensure transparency and to gather feedback from third parties and other stakeholders. Through this process, Sagri aims to further strengthen the project’s credibility and move toward official registration by Verra.

Sagri will continue to leverage cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with farmers across Asia and around the world to contribute to sustainable agriculture and the realization of a decarbonized society.
