Sagri signs MOU with Ukraine’s agricultural company Grain Alliance
— Collaborating on digital MRV(Measurement, Reporting and Verification) and carbon value creation for sustainable agricultural production —
Sagri Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tamba City, Hyogo, Japan; CEO: Shunsuke Tsuboi), a Japan-based agri-tech company leveraging satellite data and AI, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BZK Grain Alliance AB (“Grain Alliance”) to promote decarbonization and sustainable agricultural production in Ukraine.
Background
Ukraine is one of the world’s major grain-producing regions, and supporting its agricultural recovery is essential for global food security and climate resilience.
Sagri is currently participating the feasibility study of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) initiative “Green industrial recovery project for Ukraine through technology transfer from and the co-creation of new businesses with Japanese private industries,” under which this collaboration is also positioned.
Key Areas of Collaboration
- Carbon Value Creation Program
The companies will quantify soil organic carbon and carbon removals across approximately 57,000 hectares managed by Grain Alliance, following internationally recognized methodologies. - Digital MRV(Measurement, Reporting and Verification) Integration
Sagri will deploy its digital MRV platform “SagriVision”, using satellite data and AI-based models to visualize soil health, productivity, and climate impacts, ensuring transparent reporting and verification. - Future Deployment
Activities in Ukraine will validate data accuracy and operational feasibility, laying the foundation for broader commercial deployment.
Future Outlook
Through this collaboration, Sagri and Grain Alliance aim to build a strong foundation for carbon farming and digital MRV in Ukraine, contributing to environmental restoration and improved farm profitability.
Financed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) and supported by UNIDO, the initiative aims to advance further advance technology transfer and sustainable agricultural development as part of Ukraine’s green industrial recovery.
